sad_sepia.jpgAll women get those seasons of ebb – times when they are just overwhelmed with sadness. Usually, there are events that lead to these feelings; on other times, it is just unexplainable.

So how do you know if your depression is clinical? Will the feelings of sadness or anxiety go away? When do you seek medical help? Read on to find out.

Women are twice more likely to suffer from depression than men. Many factors contribute to this increased risk. Most of these factors areoften unique to women’s lives, and may include the following:

reproductive, hormonal, genetic or other biological factors;
abuse and oppression;
interpersonal factors;
certain psychological and personality characteristics.

However, many women exposed to these factors do not develop depression. The specific causes of depression are still not fully understood. What is clear is that regardless of the contributing factors, depression is a highly treatable illness.
