Women Abused as Children = High Health Care Costs in Adult Life
This is according to a study done in the US that looked upon a link between abuse during childhood and adult health care costs. Everything from mental, physical and even psychological issues tends to magnify the need for care in adult life making them one of the major costs for the health care system. Several studies of the same nature but this time round, a larger body was subjected to obtain a more reliable test body.
Certain trauma such as that from sexual abuse results in recurring health issues as adults sending them in more frequently for treatment. An increase of 42% in terms of raised costs was found when abused women were being treated for the same issues again and again.
Mental health problems is also magnified by such abuse in early life making them more likely to seek mental illness treatment. They are becoming more common and are straining already streched resources so further study and management of such people are to be carried out to make health care more effective in dealing with abused women. They are suffering from theinside out and need assistance form people who can understand their plight so support is a key to geting them on a fast road to recovery.
