Breast Cancer Cell Survival Mechanism Identified

Researchers have identified the genetic function that allows cancer cells to migrate into the bones even after years of treatment which ultimately leads to recurrence. The goal is to identify this trigger or mechanism and to find a way of cutting off the ability of the cancer cells to migrate hence killing them before they get the chance to hide within bone tissue and reappear later. Such a breakthrough has been found but more research onto the cell mechanisms and the chemical triggers is needed to effectively provide better methods of treatment that would ultimately stem recurrence, something that is responsible for many deaths due to recurrence, which the second time round is more lethal than the first.
