Medical Mistrust Aggravates Health Problems
This is such in the US where a lot of minority women often distrust medical technology and the system as a whole based on studies done through surveys and interviews. The notion that they are being treated differently and are being misdiagnosed are truly exaggerated and false with the exception fro some cases that are under investigation. As with a previous post, religious beliefs also plays a part in the issue of mistrust whereby people who could have been saved by treatment denied it altogether due to religious beliefs that countered Western Medicine and the approaches they take.
Such mistrust heightens the dangers and effects of deadly diseases which could otherwise have been treated properly through common methods. Some of these minority women groups even question the knowledge of the medical professionals entasked with their care foregoing treatment altogether. From direct and indirect experience, the traumatic experiences of some are multiplied as the news spreads to people from the same ethnic minority making the problem bigger and rendering established methods useless.
