However, there is a 12-year Harvard study that says women who took their calcium from dairy products were actually found out to have more broken bones that those women who rarely take milk. The study was made using 78,000 women which make it credible enough.</p>
<p>Another interesting study in Sydney Australia for elder men and women showed that those who consume high dairy products were more at risk for fractures than those who had the lowest consumption. </p>

Thirteen percent of American women who become pregnant have no maternity insurance coverage. They face the risk of inadequate pre-natal care and must find their own resources for funding the cost. If the pregnancy is complicated, this adds to the burden.<br/><br/>Even those with insurance may find to their dismay that maternity is not covered. A costly add-on premium may be required. Some insurers do not offer maternity coverage or consider it a pre-existing health condition. This is illegal by Federal law, and there are several loopholes.<br/><br/>There are many group insurance plans that do provide maternity coverage as a service to members. There may be a waiting period of three months to one year before the clause becomes effective. What happens if one becomes pregnant during the waiting period? If you are carrying COBRA (extended coverage from a previous employer), check to see if maternity is covered. This may be costly but well worth it.<br/><br/>Some states have plans for pregnant women like Medi-cal in California. Federally sponsored programs like Medicaid also exist, but they are mostly for low-income groups.<br/><br/>Another option is MaternityCard. It is designed to provide help to pregnant women and is well accepted. This covers a wide spectrum of maternity medical needs and less expensive than regular insurance.<br/><br/>Ideally, maternity coverage begins immediately. <p><br/><br/>Women, as a group, get far better deals on auto and life insurance. But once it comes to health insurance, a woman will attract higher rates than a male counterpart. Why is this so and what can a woman do to pay far less?<br/><br/>First, let&#8217;s explain why this is so&#8230;<br/><br/>It&#8217;s been proven that the female of every species tend to require more health care than their male counterparts. And it does make sense for the human race for the following reasons&#8230;<br/><br/>1. The female gender goes through monthly circles that take a toll on them. The degree to which this affects them defers from lady to lady. However, we all know that the loss of blood is part of the whole process. Considering that this happens every month with the attendant psychological implications for some ladies, they should require more health care.<br/><br/>2. Pregnancy. We are NOT referring to the special care a woman needs when she&#8217;s pregnant we are referring to its toll on the woman&#8217;s health long after delivery. And, if you consider that a good number of women have several pregnancies in their life time, you&#8217;ll see it makes sense that their bodies require more health care attention.<br/><br/>Now, we must understand that insurance companies, like every other business out there, are out to make a profit. Miss this important fact and you&#8217;ll wonder why a lot of things are the way they are.<br/><br/>To this end, they have studied trends of various profiles and can comfortably project how many insureds within a profile would make a claim within a given time.<br/><br/>If for example, 1 out of every 1,000 insureds within a profile makes a claim of $10,000 within a year, they will still be profitable if each person in that group pays $200. This simply means that the higher the number of claims and the amount claimed per profile, the higher their rates will be.<br/><br/>As a profile, the female gender have shown that they make more health insurance claims (and higher amounts) than men. This invariably means that insurance companies will by default give you higher rates than a man of the same profile.<br/><br/>So how do you still attract cheaper rates as a woman?<br/><br/>Top among the many things you have to do are the following&#8230;<br/><br/>1. Quit alcohol, smoking and the use of tobacco in any form.<br/><br/>2. Quit dangerous games and sports.<br/><br/>3. Quit jobs that expose you to hazards.<br/><br/>4. Get in shape. Apart from the fact that you&#8217;ll look better, your rates will also be more manageable.<br/><br/>5. Exercise regularly.<br/><br/>6. Be happy. Happy people fall ill less often. In fact there are health conditions that are caused by unresolved resentment, bitterness and worry.<br/><br/>7. Get and compare quotes from a wide range of insurers. Different insurers have different loss and claims histories. Furthermore, they also have different weightings for the different factors that are used to determine your rates.<br/><br/>Remember there are over 2,000 insurance carriers in the US alone. This means that you might have 2,000 different rates for your profile. Some will bill you more; some less.<br/><br/>Will you pay more or less? It depends on how many quotes you get and how thoroughly you compare them.</p>

<p>Depression is a highly treatable condition, so early recognition is important.</p>
<p>After significantly devastating events, such as death or illness of a loved one or loss of a job, it is normal for a person to feel low &#8211; yes, depressed. This is part of the normal process of grief and recovery. But how do we recognize if the depressive state has progressed to clinical depression?</p>
<p>According to the <a href="http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/depression-what-every-woman-should-know/symptoms-of-depression-and-mania.shtml">National Institute of Mental Health</a>, thorough diagnostic evaluation is needed if <strong>three to five or more of the following symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks or if they interfere with work or family life</strong>:</p>
<blockquote><p>* Persistent sad, anxious, or &#8220;empty&#8221; mood<br />
    * Loss of interest or pleasure in activities, including sex<br />
    * Restlessness, irritability, or excessive crying<br />
    * Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness, hopelessness, pessimism<br />
    * Sleeping too much or too little, early-morning awakening<br />
    * Appetite and/or weight loss or overeating and weight gain<br />
    * Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling &#8220;slowed down&#8221;<br />
    * Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts<br />
    * Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions<br />
    * Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive disorders, and chronic pain</p></blockquote>
<p>If you recognize any of these symptoms in yourself or in someone you love, seek help. Remember, depression is a highly treatable condition.</p>
